The Abomination

Aiden loved the D. I. It was like a treasure trove to him, full of undiscovered potential. We always laughed and said that he was such a junk collector, but what we really always knew was that he saw value in everything. Someone else's reject bin was Aiden's most valuable discovery.
I don't know who was with him this particular time, I think it might have been Sadie and Colton, but to this day I have no idea what possessed him to want to buy this chair. He knew I would freak out. He knew there was absolutely no way I would allow that thing in the house. I don't even know how he got it in the car and got it home!
But I walked in from work that day and he couldn't wait to show me. He knew exactly how it was all going to play out...and he wasn't disappointed 😉 I was like NO. Absolutely freaking not. That is not living here. What the actual HE** even is that? It's like a giant brown turd in our living room... NO!!!!!!
He was rolling. I was adamant. But in the end we were all laughing so hard that I didn't send it packing, although I threatened it often. I'd walk by it and just shake my head in disgust while he'd sit there laughing. It's name became "The brown abomination."
He initially put it in the family room, but it eventually moved into his room where it still sits today. I sit in it and write my blog posts, and on the days I just want to go sit in his room in the quiet and talk to him for awhile.
And now....It's not going anywhere and we all know it. The "Brown Abomination" that Aiden paid $15 for at the D. I. will stay forever, and I'm ok with that ❤️🥲
